Relaxing meditation is the way to relax your body and mind with sustained concentration. Good amount of research is done in this field that shows that meditation is a useful and practical technique for managing stress and thus tool for effective relaxation.

Here is the meditation technique to relax your body by relaxing your muscles:

Sit down in a comfortable position. Focus on the muscles that you want to relax.

First tense the muscles by stressing them. Make them tightly contracted as possible.

Hold then in a state of this extreme tension for some time.

Now relax the muscle. Make a conscious endeavor in this relaxation. See that the previous relaxed state of the muscle is reached.

Relax it further and further. This increases the relaxation level of the muscle.

You can try this now with your hand. Form a fist and stress as much as possible. Once you find that you cannot further stress relax.

The above technique is also called as progressive muscular relaxation.

Here are the steps for meditation technique that is very helpful for mental relaxation:

Keep your spine straight and sit down in a comfortable position

Bring your hands in prayer pose. Keep your hands in the shape of cup without allowing your thumbs to touch.

Do not close your eyes completely. Try to keep your one-tenth of your eye open.

Now breath deeply. Breath through nose first. Trt to take 4 to 5 breaths through nose.

After the above step start breathing out through the mouth. You should aim your breath at the spot where your two thumbs are separated.

Observe this breathing for sometime. As the air hits your thumbs and simultaneously cools them, you can feel the relaxation of mind.

Feel that all your negative feelings and emotions are breathed out. Feel the mental tranqulity and peace.

Continue this meditation till all the stress, anger, irritation and/or tension gets disappered in the air that rushes out of you.

The above is the simple technique for effective mental relaxation meditation.

Mandala literally means circle. Circles are meant as the powerful symbols in every religion and culture. Mandals are the sacred circles which are been used as facilatators in meditation and healing in several religions.

The Principle:

If you deeply observe the nature and working, you can relate much to this sacred circle: Mandala. Mandala can be seen everywhere in the nature. For example: galaxies, planets, moon, sun, even individual cells- all represent the mandala. Every mandala represents or symbolizes an aspect of the nature and the spirit. The energy in the mandala can be honed by meditation and the technique is called mandala meditation.

Here is the brief technique for Mandala Meditation:

The first step is to find the mandala that represents your position. There are many types of mandalas, each meant for the specific purpose.

Take the mandala and place that before you. Relax. Start focussing on the center of the mandala. As the energy of the mandala is centered, try to focus mainly in the center of the mandala.

Breathe slowly. As you continue focussing you will notice a change in the colors of the mandala. You may also observe that the mandala is becoming brighter and brighter with your increasing focus.

This means the mandala is working. Feel the energy flowing through the mandala. Open yourself to the energy and receive the energy pouring from the mandala.

Once you feel this close your eyes. You can see that mandala appears in your eyes. Is it not amazing!

Now watch it carefully and feel it as it pulsates. You can observe that the parts of mandala will brigthen then fade. Continue feeling the power of mandala flowing through you as you felt before, if not more intense than before.

Now feel the soothness and calm yourself. If you are trying to heal some part of your body through the mandala meditation then concentrate on that part and allow the energy of the mandala flow through that part of the body.

Check your healing. Once done slowly open your eyes. You will feel rejenuated. You can repeat this process as many times as you like.

Chakra Balancing: The main objective of chakra balancing meditation is to harmonize the chakras by meditation. Meditation is the way to purify the chakras by releasing any stored negative energy from your body and aura.

Chakras are defined in traditional Indian medicine as the centers of psychic energy. There are seven chakras in human body. They are located in a straight line that starts at the base of the spine and go up through the head to the top… via the spinal column.

Each chakra is associated with a colour, musical note and corresponds to specific organs and glands of the body. These are considered as the junctions of gross body and subtle body. Here is the technique of mediatation that can purify the chakras of old thoughts and trapped emotions:

Sit on floor or chair in a comfortable position and relax for some time. Close your eyes and take deep breathing. Slow your breathing pace and concentrate on the breathing pattern.

Now start from the root chakra, also called Mooladhara Chakra. Visualize the chakra as a bright RED ball spinning clockwise and concentrate on breath. See yourself breathing in red and breathing out red. Slowly release all the toxins in form of negative thoughts and realize the energy flowing into your chakra. Do this for 2 to 3 minutes.

Focus on the next chakra which is called Svadhisthan Chakra. It is located in sacral region. Visualize this chakra as bright ORANGE ball spinning clockwise. Repeat the above procedure and but this time visualize that you breath in orange and breath out orange. Repeat this for 2 to 3 minutes.

Focus on the next chakra called as Manipura Chakra. It is located in the region of Solar Plexus. Visualize this chakra as YELLOW ball spinning clockwise. Repeat the same procedure by breathing in yellow and breathing out yellow. Again repeat this for 2 to 3 minutes.

Focus on the next chakra Anahata Chakra. It is located in heart region. Visualize this chakra as GREEN ball spinning clockwise. Breathing in green and breath out green. Repeat for 2 to 3 minutes.

Similarly focus on the next chakra Vushudda Chakra. It is located in throat region. Visualize this chakra as BLUE ball spinning clockwise. Breath in blue and breath out blue. Repeat for 2 to 3 minutes.

Next chakra is Anja Chakra which is located in forehead, also called third eye. Visualize this chakra as bright INDIGO ball spinning clockwise. Breath in indigo and breath out indigo. Repeat for 2 to 3 minutes.

Next focus on the top most chakra called crown chakra or Sahasraram Chakra. Visualize this chakra as VOILET ball spinning clockwise. Breath in voilet and breath out voilet. Repeat for 2 to 3 minutes.

Finally see the white light flowing down from God through your crown and replenishing all of your chakras with energy and vitality. Envisage yourself glowing with the milky light with all the chakras glowing brightly in their own colors. Hold this for 2 to 3 minutes.

This completes your chakra balancing in meditation. Slowly open your eyes and feel the divine energy flowing in you.

Tantra is a sanskrit word which relates to the idea that everything and everyone in the universe are interconnected. It is very much related to the word ‘mystism’. It has to do lot with the cosmic energy and one’s individual energy.

Here is the simple technique of tantra meditaion that cherishes the feelings of wholeness, complete, joy:

Sit on a cushion or a mat in a corner of your room. Attain an upright position and make sure that your spine is straight and vertical. Now relax your muscles.

Light a candle and burn some incense. Place few fresh flowers near you as it gives pleasing effect. Keep a divine book near you that encourages you to unwind and relax.

Offer a short prayer to the divine energy that is all pervading within you and outside you. Pray to the Light of Love to enlighten your heart with radiance and warmth.

Close your eyes and let everything go. Observe your breath by counting. For example: count 1,2 breath in; count 3,4 breath out. Remain in your own pace and continue for a minute or two.

Now begin the silent portion of your meditation. Close your eyes and deeply meditate on breathing pattern to harmonize your thoughts.

Start focussing on the object of meditation. Think of unconditional divine love. Begin to perceive it and identify yourself with it. The result is that you will feel the correspondent energy between you and the energy of the object of your meditation. Concentrate on this energy.

Go on identifying with the Supreme object and feel related to it. This stage is called samadhi. You will feel the intense field of energy and you can appreciate that it is surrounding and pervading you.

Once you feel the relationship plan to improve the realtionship. For example relationship of kindliness. Meditate on that and mentally affirm for kindliness of the Supreme on you. Spend some time on further affirmations for harmony peace for you and whole world.

Open your eyes as you have finished your tantra meditation. Now you will enjoy the feelings that arise of being connected with the Supreme and related as an intergral part of the big world. This is the radiant and blissful stage of tantra.

Is Sahaja Yoga an Asthma Remedy?

Scientists in Sydney,Australia, studied the effectiveness of meditation as an asthma remedy.

Patients suffering from asthma and inhaling moderate to high doses of steriods were considered.

They were divided in two groups.Group one had 30 members and group two had 29 members.

Group one and group two were subjected to Sahaja Yoga and another relaxation technique.

The experiment was for a period of 4 months with a 2 hours session per week.

Improvement in the asthma condition of the patients from both the groups were compared.

It was found that Sahaja yoga technique was beneficial in improving the conditions of the Asthma Patients.

However, further research is required to gain knowledge about the underlying mechanisms of the disease and the technique.

Sahaja Yoga:

It is a Meditation technique based on Kundalini Meditation Principles. It was introduced by H.H.Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi in 1970.This meditation technique starts with Self Realization as its first step.In this way it is different from other meditation techniques where self-realization is the end. After achiving the state of self-realization,the task of the practitioner is to nourish and maintain this sate of awareness by regular practice and attention.

Asthma:

Asthma is a lung disease. It can happen to people from all age group.Mostly it starts in Childhood. It attacks time and again and hence it comes under Chronic diseases catagory.A patient suffering from Asthma complains of shortness of breath and feels chocked. He coughs and breathing involves a whistling sound. The attach mostly happens in the night times or early in the morning.

The proverb about life that, “It’s a very short trip. While alive, live” seems to have faded away from the minds of the people. The competitive atmosphere and the anxiety that it brings, might make irreparable damage to one’s health which one may not be conscious of.

A life full of stress might make you susceptible to dangers of heart attack and affect your brain in a bad way. Are you scared already? Don’t be. Wait and listen to the other side of the story.
There’s a brighter side to life too. Recent studies have proved that meditation can not only help but also prevent the chances of heart attack.

Practicing meditation

Are you one among those who are too restless to sit for even a few minutes and whose mind wanders away like that of a poet? Don’t worry. Practicing meditation may not require sitting for hours together. Fifteen to twenty minutes twice a day, preferably every morning and evening would suffice. What one needs to do is – sitting in a quiet room and concentrating on your own breathing till your mind achieves a state of calmness and becomes a “tabula rasa” (a blank mind).

Effects of meditation

See it’s simpler than you thought! Practicing meditation paves the way to a longer life as it not only reduces blood pressure but also cholesterol. Meditation also improves the insulin level of the body besides helping to reduce an arterial disease called “atherosclerosis”, a common arterial disease in which cholesterol deposits plaques form on the inner surfaces of the arteries thus obstructing the flow of blood.

Self-actualization refers to the highest level of self development. This article tries to understand how meditation techniques and the concept of Self-actualization are related.

Relation between Self-actualization and Meditation:

Meditation is primarily an eastern approach to self-realization.

Self-actualization is the western counter part of it.

Meditation involves spiritual approaches and intuitive experiences.

Self-actualization is scientific and objective means of measuring self progress.

What Research Studies have to say about the two?

The delay in complete appreciation of meditation is due to its subjective nature of working.

Research Studies on meditation have found a positive relationship between it and self-actualization.

The concept of Self-actualization and the practice of meditation are found to complement each other with a common purpose.

Benefits of the findings made in the Research Studies:

The findings of the Research studies are adding an objective aspect to the practice of meditation.

In this way,it can be perceived as scientific method of stress management and self-realization.

Westerners have started to appreciate the benefits of meditation recently.

It is suggested to implement it as part of stress management methodology in schools.

What is Self-actualization?

This term was framed by the Psychologist Dr.Abraham Masglow.

It is the final level of development psychologically when a person secures his basic and mental needs.

It is a practical means of self realization.

It involves gradual addresing of the requirements based on their severity.

The Self-actualized person is positive, autonomous, simple, philosphical, tolerant and a learner all his life.

A Meditation technique meant for present day hectic life style is the Alpha Meditation. This article tries to gain further insight about this meditation technique.

Why Alpha Meditation is an Instant Meditation Technique?

Training the mind to systematically arrive at a desired frequency range is tedious and time-consuming.

The mind should be in its ALPHA state to experience the joy of meditation.

A special type of musical recordings called Binaural Beats are used in Alpha Meditation.

The Binaural beats help the practitioner to reach the meditative state in minutes.

CDs available as part of this meditation technique produce the Binaural beats.

These waves harmoniously interact with the waves of the mind at a given instant of time.

Based on Principle of Superposition of waves,The Binaural beats bring the waves of the mind in the desired ALPHA frequency range of meditation.

Physics of Meditation:

Meditation is scientifically based on the Principle of Superposition of Waves in Physics.

This principle says that when two waves combine, the resultant wave is the sum of the individual waves.

When the crest of one wave falls on the crest of another wave, the resultant wave is strengthened.

Else, crest of a wave falling on trough of the another wave, produces no or weak waves.

How the Human Mind works ?

The mind is filled with thoughts or waves of different energies or frequencies.

Different states of our mind are scientifically different frequency ranges.

Mind in a particular frequency range behaves in a particular manner.

Meditation techniques change the frequency states of the mind to derive the benefits of a particular state of mind.

Physics of the Human Mind:

Human Thoughts are waves, scientifically.Every wave is made up of a crest and a trough.

Distance between two succesive crests or two succesive troughs is called the length of a wave.

The number of waves produced by a source in a time duration of one second is called the frequency of a wave.

It is measured in Hertz. 20 Hertz means that a source produces 20 waves in a second.

Wavelength and Frequency are two characteristic terms of any wave.

Energy associated with a wave is related to its frequency.Higher the frequency, stronger the wave.

Telepathy is the means of communication without communication. It is confusing to understand the concept of telepathy with daily life notions stuffed in our brain. This article tries to understand about this intangible mode of communication – Telepathy.

What is Telepathy?

Our everyday experiences of communication involves words or signs.

But the human brain is capable of communicating in many potent and intangible ways.

In telepathy, the normal sensory organs play no role.

The mind communicates between two people at distinct places.

Exchange of mental energies conveys the messages here.

Mechanism of Telepathy:

Human brain operates at a particular frequency range at a given instant of time.

These frequency ranges can be controlled and harnessed effectively.

Telepathy is a state of mind at a particular frequency range.

In such a state, the mind develops telepathic abilities.

Every human being has telepathic abilities.

It remains dormant because of our ignorance and can be developed in to skill.

Monks and Sages in the east have been practicing telepathy from several centuries.

Meditation is the age-old method to practice Telepathy.

However,in the recent times several handy alternatives are developed complimenting our hectic life styles.

One such alternative is the usage of the Binaural Beats to practice Telepathy.

What are Binaural Beats?

The Binaural Beats are musical recordings available in the form of compact disks.

These beats interacts with the frequencies of the mind at a particular instant of time.

They lower the frequency range of the mind to ALPHA level.

It is at this level the mind acquires telepathic abilities.

There are several experiences of life which we feel hesitant enough to explore. The prejudices of our mind do not allow us to do so.Telepathy is one such experience.Positive attitude to explore and experience can make our life more rewarding and rich.
